In this work Conradie looks at the home as an extended metaphor of a cabinet that holds memory, imagination and ordentlikheid (respectability) as well as place and a sense of belonging. Within this cabinet, there are shelves/compartments (certain rooms) that are made public and other compartments that are kept private.
